Justmoney is looking for a new executive editor.

As South Africa’s premier online personal finance portal, Justmoney helps thousands of South Africans to be better informed about their finances, and with over 65 000 users a month, is firmly entrenched within the South African digital landscape.

We’re looking for someone who is as passionate about finance as they are about the South African consumer. We’re looking for a consumer champion, a brand advocate and someone who isn’t afraid to push the boundaries of the local personal finance industry.

Duties include advising and developing new and effective cost and fee calculators, chatting to banks and other financial institutions about the latest developments and trends, appearing as the face of the brand in the press while pushing consumer issues and generally championing the plight of financial education across the South African online community – always striving to keep Justmoney at the top of that pile.

You should be happy to talk about finance and the Internet on the radio or TV, excel at writing regular press releases about industry developments and company advancements and be eager to play a key role in the education and uplifting of the South African financial services industry – particularly the education around the topic.

As a manager, you’ll be responsible for the direction of the business and its content, the management and advancement of the editorial staff as well as the copy and content of the website. You’ll be ably assisted and guided by the existing commercial and content production teams on a daily basis and be expected to work closely with both of these teams to ensure the continued growth and success of the business. With in-house developers, you’ll also be expected to create new and exiting concepts for the web development team to carry out.

We’re looking for a team player, someone who is not afraid to get their hands dirty and who wants to make a genuine advancement in the local personal finance and online space.

Requirements:

At least 3 years in personal finance, journalism or a related industry.

Strong writing and presentation skills as well as the ability to speak to the media

Strong consumer focused values.

Advantageous:

Previous experience in finance.

Previous experience working in the online industry

Successful candidates will work closely with both the site editor and the commercial manager and be expected to take ownership of new site developments, the quality and direction of the sites editorial and the brand perception within the industry and the media.

Educational:

Job Purpose:

To achieve and exceed the category financial targets through the successful development and implementation of the category operating plan by actively cultivating, developing and maintaining vendor relationships in line with the business objectives.

·        Develop an annual category operating plan in line with the strategic category brief and lead the category team to achieve the category operating plan targets.

Qualifications and Experience:

·          3 – 7 years’ experience in Retail Buying (Essential)

·          Experience buying in FMCG, or background in a category where there is high promotional activity
